Gramma & Wisdom

“From childhood you have known the sacred GRAMMA which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

— 2 Timothy 3:15

“Our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the GRAMMA but of the Spirit; for the GRAMMA kills, but the Spirit gives life.”

— 2 Corinthians 3:5-6

Reflection:

How do the “sacred gramma” (God’s writings) give the wisdom which leads to salvation? In order to fully understand this, we must spend some time hanging out with Adam in the Garden.

“The LORD God commanded Adam, saying, “from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”

— Genesis 2:16-17

This is the first usage of the word “command” in the sacred “gramma”. It is the Lord God’s spoken orders to mankind. The Lord promised a smorgasbord of delights for Adam and Eve to enjoy in His Garden sanctuary. It was all theirs. They only needed to obey His “command”, His “gramma” Word, as their Sovereign Creator and King. The first command of God given to mankind was this:

“I am the LORD your God, your Creator and ruler who made you and loves you. You shall NOT eat of the fruit of the Tree in the center of the Garden and make yourselves “the center”, as rulers over me and each other.”

That was God’s first Law spoken to mankind, sealed in the “halls of congress” between the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit amidst myriads of “angelic powers” who also witnessed this “Gramma” passed as Divine legislation.

Pretty simple. We are to avoid making ourselves rulers over God and each other in our dominion and gardening tasks on this wild earth, and all will be well. That was the “Law”. The “Gospel Promise” corresponding to this followed:

“A cosmic smorgasbord of delights, including the Tree of Life and repair, will be for you and your posterity if you “believe” and obey this Law.”

But, as we all know, this one little “gramma” Word - passed by the Legislative, Executive and Judicial “branches” of God - was not believed by immature mankind hellbent on taking dominion over EVERYTHING, including God Himself! And so, by breaking this “Law”, they also forfeit the “promise” and subsequently had to be “driven out” of the Garden by “powers” which the Lord God stationed at “the gate” to block re-entrance.

NOTE: Every single religion on earth from this time forward has attempted - ad nauseam - to find a “way” to “storm the gate” and retrieve the three gifts of the Creator which are “locked away” in the Garden. These three gifts are Life and Glory found in the “fruits of the Trees”, as well as “Wisdom” found in the “fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”, that is, the tree of the ruler. In other words, Every false religion (fallen worldview of man), attempts to “slay the dragon” in order to “get the treasure”.

The “dragon” is the guardian “Cherubim” stationed by God “at the gate”, and “the Treasure” is Jesus Christ. Oh, but, I’m getting ahead of myself… Suffice to say, that when Ezekiel saw the throne chariot of God leave the Temple, the Cherubim left with Him, and the four faces of the Cherubim which he saw were a revelation of the “powers” which God had stationed at the gate as guardians preventing illicit re-entrance.

The Ox face of the Cherubim reveals the “power” of “the religions” of man on earth that violently guard the gate of God. The meaning of “the Ox” is that mankind will never get back to God through “the elementary principles” of religion or philosophy. The Lion face of the Cherubim reveals the “power” of “the state” and man’s “political machines” which also stand guard, preventing re-admittance to the “treasure”. The meaning of the Lion face is that mankind will never get back to God through “politics”. And the Eagle face of the Cherubim reveals “global empire” which fulfills the dominion mandate, speaking with the false prophetic voice which forbids the truth of God by “standing in readiness.” The meaning of the Eagle face is that mankind will never gain “re-admittance” to God through obeying God’s global, dominion mandate. And finally, there is the face of “the Man” seen in the guardian Cherubim. This is the Face of the “Last Adam” Jesus Christ. Jesus accompanies God’s throne Chariot through history for He is the Lord God’s only begotten Son. He is the final guardian who also stands at the gate of God. The meaning of Jesus’ face - seen in the faces of the guardian Cherubim - reveals that He is the final guardian who prevents illicit re-entry to God without going “through” Him, that is, through His cross. All who desire to “get to the treasure” without going “through Him” alone (i.e. “believing” in His EXCLUSIVE work on the cross on their behalf) will be “speared to death” for eternity.

It has to be noted that the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) also reveal the four faces of the Cherubim as the authorized “guardians” of the gate of God. Matthew is the face of the Ox who speaks of the “true religion” (priesthood) of Jesus Christ. Mark is the face of the Lion who speaks of the “true state” (kingship) of Jesus Christ. Luke is the face of the Eagle who speaks of the “true empire” and prophetic voice of Jesus Christ. And John is the face of “the Man”, the last Adam Jesus Christ who speaks of “new creation”, a new world.

So, after spending some time with Adam in the Garden, learning about God’s Word (GRAMMA) of Command to mankind, and His Word (GRAMMA) of Promise, I think we are in a better position to “see” and understand how the “sacred gramma” (God’s writings) give the wisdom which leads to salvation. According to God’s command, if mankind oversteps our “place” as stewards of the King, desiring to be “little kings and queens” over each other, yea, even over God, we will “die”. This is the Gramma of God that “kills”. In order to “get back in” through the gate of God, we must “die”. But, it is not just “ordinary death” which mankind must “pass through” in order to get to the “treasure”. And it is NOT through “religious aesthetic” practices which we “do” in order to come as near to dying as possible in order to gain re-entry. No. It is a specific “death” which we must pass through which saves us in the end. It is the death of passing through the cross of Jesus Christ by faith alone in Him as God and Savior alone. We cannot gain re-access to God through “religious mysticism”, “political machinations”, or “philosophical and global imperialism”. No. It is ONLY through “the wisdom of God” which is “foolishness” to the wisdom of man. The Gramma of God which gives “wisdom” is the Word of the Cross. For this Word puts us to death in Jesus Christ, and through “the Man”, the Last Adam”, we gain access now “through the veil” of the guardian “cherubim”. All of this is by accomplished by Jesus Christ alone, by faith (in Him) alone, by grace alone, by His GRAMMA alone, for the Glory of God alone.
